The most appropriate English word of 'Doli' is ' Palanquin'. I lkie to explain how this word finds a place in English dictionary. The English first made their colony in Bengal region. At that time 'PALKI' was the only cart for the women of royal families, because then women were not allowed to travel open out of the door curtain. The British royal families also used 'palki' meaning of 'Doli' in Bangla language is 'Palki'. From this word the english word 'PALANQUIN' came in english.
